VINYL TECH WINDOWS INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Before removing your old window, always check to see that the window is the correct size, and that there is no visible damage. and make sure your new window is what you ordered.

Double Hung and Single Hung Windows:

  1. Set the window in place with at least 1/4" clearance on both -sides; of the jambs and the head.
  2. Square, plumb and level the window in the opening and shim both side jambs parallel. The shims must be placed at the point where the Installation screws will be used.
  3. The sill must be level and properly supported, being realistic, the window should rest on the existing sill.
  4. Measure the inside frame dimensions and adjust the skims until the dimensions are equal on the side jambs and head.
  5. It Is imperative to make certain the window is square.

Double Hung and Single Hung windows:

Slide the sash open and remove the balance covers. Drill 3/8" screw holes when necessary, through the side jambs, For windows 36" or less in height, the holes should be drilled 3" from the bead and sill. Windows that are over 36" a third hole should be drilled at the centre point of the side jambs. Do not forget to replace the balance cover.

Insulate between the window and the frame making sure that all gaps and voids are filled completely. Before applying caulking and trim, make sure you check that the sashes slide and rest freely in any position. Now you are ready to finish the interior and exterior trim and caulking.

Double Hung and Single Hung Window Operations:

Single Hung Windows - Lift the bottom sash approximately 2", from the sill. Release the sash by sliding the tilt release buttons to the center and pull the sash towards you. Make sure that you tilt the sash evenly. If you hove to remove the sub it should be tipped back to a 90 degree so you do not accidentally unlock the shoes and sash balances.

Double Hung Window Operations: the top sash should be pulled dawn approximately 6". Release the sash by sliding the tilt release buttons to the Centre and pull the sash towards you. Hold the sash at 90 degrees to the frame when
cleaning. When tilting the sashes back to the same position, make sure that they are properly seated with the tilt releases engaged.

Horizontal Double and Single Sliders: In order for you to tilt the slider sash or sashes, open the sub approximately 2-3". Release the sash by sliding the tilt release buttons to the center and pull the sash or sashes toward you. Always make sure to tilt the ashes evenly to a 90 degree. When tilting the sash or sashes, it is imperative that you keep the sash parallel to the window sill to avoid disengaging the balances.

Casement Installations:

  1. To install a casement window, open the sash and drill a 3/8" screw holethrough the inside frame wall approximately 3" from the top and bottom of each side jamb. If you are installing a Casement window that is over 36 " a third hole should be drilled at the center point of the side jamb. If you have more then one unit, it may be necessary to drill holes and place the screws in the head on the hinge side.
  2. Plumb, square and level the window in the opening by placing shims behind the screw locations.
  3. When inserting the screws. do not over tighten and distort the jambs.
  4. Cover the screw holes with the vinyl plugs that are supplied.
  5. Insulate between the window and the frame making sure that all gaps and voids are filled completely.
  6. Before applying caulking or final trim, check the window for smooth operation and fit and make any necessary adjustments.
  7. Finish the interior and exterior trim and caulking.

REMEMBER:
**NEVER DRILL INSTALLATION HOLES THROUGH THE SILL.
**DO NOT FORCE ANY WINDOW INTO AN OPENING THAT IS TOO SMALL.

IF THE WINDOW IS NOT INSTALLED PROPERLY, IT WILL NOT PERFORM AS EXPECTED AND COULD VOID YOUR WARRANTY.
